Where the Gulf of Aqaba meets the Gulf of Suez, Ras Mohammed National Park drops from coral gardens into thousand-metre blue. Cousteau called it one of the world's great reefs; the fish life at Yolanda and Shark Reef still proves him right. Two or three guided snorkeling stops, gear included.
Midday, the boat noses onto White Island — a bare white sandbar that exists only at low tide, ringed by impossible turquoise. Lunch is served on board as Sinai's mountains stand behind.
